Obituary, Tomasz Skirecki

The EGIS community is devastated and heartbroken by the recent passing of one of its founding members, Tomasz Skirecki. Tomasz passed away peacefully yesterday in his own hospital in Warsaw after a short, aggressive illness. There are no words to express the shock and sadness felt by all of us at EGIS at this sad news.

As well as being a wonderful human being, Tomasz was an enthusiastic clinician and clinical researcher, wholeheartedly dedicated to the clinic and to science. His fantastic achievements in sepsis immunology, his selfless contributions and impulses within EGIS, his always cheerful spirit, the memories of our many shared moments with Tomasz at numerous meetings, scientific events, pub visits and much more will remain in our hearts forever.

Tomasz left us much too soon. He will be deeply missed, mourned and remembered by all of us at EGIS as the best of friends and colleagues.

Do not cry because the sun has gone out of your life, for your tears will prevent you from seeing the stars.
